Financial Support

Understanding Your Care Funding Options

Navigating how to pay for home care can feel overwhelming. We are here to help you understand the different funding streams available across Surrey and London, from private self-funding to local authority and NHS support.

Self-Funding (Private Care)

If your savings and assets sit above the local authority threshold, you will need to fund your own care. As a private client, you have total control over your bespoke care plan, adjusting the level of support exactly as you see fit.

Local Authority (Council) Funding

Your local council can perform a Financial Assessment (Means Test) to see if you qualify for help. Important: If you qualify, you can request a “Direct Payment”, allowing you to choose SD Care rather than the council’s default provider.

NHS Continuing Healthcare (CHC)

If your care needs are primarily health-related (such as complex clinical needs or severe end-of-life care), the NHS may cover the entire cost of your care, regardless of your savings. This is assessed by medical professionals.

Essential State Benefits

Even if you are self-funding, you may be entitled to non-means-tested, tax-free benefits. Attendance Allowance is available for those over State Pension age, while Personal Independence Payment (PIP) is for those under.
