Maximising Precious Time at Home: Specialised MND Care for Rich

The Challenge

Rich was diagnosed with Motor Neuron Disease (MND), a collection of progressive neurological conditions impacting the motor neurons in the brain and spinal cord. Because these neurons are in charge of voluntary muscle activities like walking, talking, and swallowing, their deterioration causes the muscles they regulate to become increasingly weak.

With no known cure for MND at this time, learning about the diagnosis was incredibly difficult. However, Rich is a true warrior. He made a firm commitment to maximising his time with loved ones, and he was determined to do so in the comfort and familiarity of his own home rather than a clinical setting.

Our Approach

At SD Care, our immediate goal was to deliver specialised care directly to Rich within the convenience of his home. We took the initiative to design a unique care strategy aimed specifically at addressing the distinct, evolving requirements of an MND patient.
